Sym-Bionic Titan

Genndy Tartakovsky, the creator of Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack and Star Wars Clone Wars, has produced a new half hour animated series Sym-Bionic Titan. I watched the first episode this morning, Sunday morning, and enjoyed the hell out of it. The exposition heavy first episode has a plot that doesn't contain one original idea but the art direction, high production values and Tartakovsky's trademark action/comedy blend totally makes up for it. It's approximately 145 different types of awesome. Let's hope it stays that way.

Pleasurekraft - Tarantula (Uner Mix)

How embarrassing. The other day instead of posting this tune I posted what sounded like the soundtrack to the trailer of Resident Evil. Yuck. Here's the real thing. And it is FUCKING ACE!

Squarepusher is dead. Long live Squarepusher

Squarepusher presents - Shobaleader One - d'Demonstrator from Warp Records on Vimeo.

Squarepusher has unveiled a teaser of what his new alter ego, Shobaleader One, will sound like. Hard to tell from the short video above but it doesn't seem wildly different from some of the work on Just A Souvenir. He released a single, Cryptic Motion, last month on distortion riddled hipster kid label Ed Banger records (they can fuck right off) that sort of sounds like torture chamber funk filtered through Daft Punk. It's good. The album, d'Emonstrator, will be released through regular old Warp records though. Hold on to your butts.

Matthew Herbert - Movers and the Shakers

Track from Herbert's 2006 album Scale. Free download here. His most pop friendly album combines jazz, disco, house and big ballad as well as a whole bag of electronic tricks. For this album the nutjob sampled the sound of 723 objects including a fighter jet, petrol pumps and a coke can.

Herbert - Movers and the shakers

One of his forthcoming albums "One Pig" will be a concept piece made up entirely from sounds produced during the life cycle of a pig.

"rather frustratingly, and despite many phone calls we have found it impossible to find an abattoir to allow us to record the death of the pig. we found one farmer willing to let us record, but then the attending vet did not allow it. "

He blogs all about it here.

The pig was eaten on 17th august 2010.

Ellen Allien Timewarp 2007

I can't believe I've been listening to this set for 3 years and never posted it. Ridiculous. Its the business. Huffing puffing grunting dance party techno. Get it here. Stay away from her productions, her newer ones that is, this is what Allien is all about. This recording also gives you the added bonus of hearing people shouting and freaking out. Headphones recommended.

UPDATE:
The mix has now been uploaded to soundcloud. Yay!

Matthew Herbert - Take Me Back

The EPIC 1996 house classic "Take Me Back". Choon. Herbert is djing in Panorama tomorrow night. Have seen him live doing the Big Band stuff, the Herbert stuff, but I've never seen him doing a DJ set. Seemingly he's doing a mix of his DJ set and his live act using his own pieces or remixes of songs he's done. "It is intended to be a celebration of the potential of dance music to be both engaging for the curious mind and, of course, the body." :D

Matthew Herbert - Take Me Back

And here is the AMAZING remix of the above track by Herbert himself. This was released on a bonus disc when 100lbs (the album that contained the original) was re-released in 2006. This is the version I've heard played most in various sets.
